At Words First, we aim to work with professionals from all walks of life through collaboration and sharing best practice.

  1. Words First Ltd hosts a termly SENCO network meeting at the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy rooms in London Bridge. The purpose of the Words First Senco network is to provide a platform for sharing best practice and ideas across schools, facilitated by SEN Expert Anita Devi. The Network was established after visiting a number of schools and realizing that all schools face similar challenges yet do not always have the time and space to discuss solutions / how other schools are tackling the same issues. The Words First SENCO network therefore aims to provide ring-fenced time for SENCOs to network, learn about SEN-related issues directly from a SEN Expert and ask questions relevant to their schools. The network has doubled in size since our first one in October 2016 and we hope to continue to grow to ensure SENCOs have continued access to high quality CPD.

Any school is welcome to join the Network – we welcome SENCOs, SEN co-ordinators, Head Teachers or anyone with an interest / responsibility for SEN. This is how it works:

  • We meet once per term (next one is 19th May 2017)
  • We have Primary (9am – 12) and Secondary (1-4pm) network meetings
  • Topics are chosen by SENCOs at the start of the term
  • Anita plans and delivers training specific to the chosen topics (e.g. how to reduce paperwork)
  • This is followed by small group discussion
  • For those wishing to continue networking, we adjourn to the pub across the road to relax over a drink!

Please contact Amanda if you would like more information or would like to book a place.
