SaLT

Hello, my name is Caroline. I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in 2015. Prior to working as a Speech and Language Therapist I undertook work as a caregiver. I worked with clients with learning disabilities and progressive neurological conditions. I thoroughly enjoyed this role. It enabled me to build close relationships with the clients’ families and ensure I was working in line with their requests. During my career as a Speech and Language Therapist I have worked in a community clinic, primary schools and secondary schools. My special areas of interest include Autism and complex needs. Supporting these children to effectively cope in their environment is incredibly fulfilling. The thing I love most about working in Words First is the wonderful team of therapists that I am surrounded by. They are an invaluable network of support and I am constantly learning from them. When I’m not working as a SaLT I enjoy getting outdoors, meeting friends and seeing what London has to offer. A book that has made a big impact on my life is The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. It was fascinating to get to see the world from a perspective that is so different from my own.
