Carolyn graduated from Columbia University’s Programs in Occupational Therapy in 2001 and is a registered Occupational Therapist with NBCOT. Alongside Tanika, Carolyn is a consultant and adviser in Assistive Technology / Augmentative and Alternative Communication for Words First Ltd. Their company, Ace Innovations which is based in the US, provides assessments, supervision and coaching for Words First therapists working in schools in London. Additionally, ACE Innovations run regular training for staff working with children who require or use AAC devices.
Carolyn received a full scholarship from the New York City Board of Education. Since that time, Carolyn has specialized in providing therapeutic intervention and Assistive Technology (AT) evaluations and support to children with special needs. Carolyn has earned her RESNA Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification and has concentrated her assistive technology practice on providing effective access and mounting solutions to individuals with physical impairments. She has also focused her practice on providing assistive technology to individuals with print disabilities such as dyslexia to support them in accessing their curriculum effectively by compensating for challenges with encoding and decoding. Carolyn values the importance of the team approach when assessing for and designing an intervention for students to find the most comprehensive solutions for the individual.
