Hello, my name is India. I graduated from UCL in 2018 with an MSc in Speech and Language Sciences.
Prior to this I earned a BSc in Psychology from the University of Nottingham, and then worked for 3 years as a primary school teaching assistant, specialising in speech and language interventions. I now work as a speech and language therapist within mainstream primary schools. My specialism is Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), and I support other Words First therapists working with children with suspected or diagnosed DLD. Additionally, I am a mentor for new therapists within the Words First team. I’m passionate about identifying children with language disorders within mainstream schools and ensuring that they can get the support for language and learning that they need to succeed. I also love creating new resources to use in school. My favourite thing about working for Words First is that we can provide so much face-to-face intervention in schools, and therefore I’m able to see the huge amount of progress that my students make. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, family days out, listening to true crime podcasts, and travelling. I’m always planning my next holiday (or three)! If I asked my friends to describe me, I think they’d say that I’m outgoing, enthusiastic and loyal.
