Andrew Snelling

Ed Psych

Hello! I’m Andrew and I am one of the Educational Psychologists for Words First!

I studied Educational Psychology at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa and gained extensive experience working within an educational environment which included working with learners who require special needs in education. After completing my Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology at the end of 2016, I was fortunate to receive the opportunity to work at Cedarwood School with both the Preparatory and College school while completing my internship year. After completing my internship, I registered as an Educational Psychologist with the HPCSA in 2018. Since then, I have worked as the Educational Psychologist for the National School of the Arts, and while there I supported the school-based support team by conducting psychoeducational assessments, concession applications, group social intervention, individual and play therapy as well as staff development.

During my time of employment, it has been expected of me to be emotionally mature and adaptable as well as to be able to work under pressure. My roles have included taking on the responsibility to develop, grow and support others, and I have done so with great passion.

If you had to call my best friend and ask him to describe me, I think they’d describe me as committed, thoughtful and down to earth.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, cycling, watching sports, and keeping myself busy in the great outdoors.

I now look forward to beginning a new chapter with Words First and their fantastic multidisciplinary team.
