Biyelwe Mabuza

Pre-Reg OT

Hello, my name is Biyelwe.

I graduated as an Occupational Therapist from the University of the Western Cape (South Africa) in 2023. I’ve had the privilege of working in pediatric, geriatric, mental health, burns, community, and work placements throughout my academic career. As early as secondary school, I realised that I wanted a profession working with children and knew soon after that, that OT was my calling. I witnessed the significant impact that Occupational Therapists had on children’s lives through my brother’s progress in his OT sessions.

I am passionate about advocating for the rights of socially disorganised communities, having taken part in initiatives such as Equal Education, which aims at achieving equality within the South African education system, as well as improving the quality of life for the youth of South Africa. I also worked as a mentor throughout my university career, offering guidance, aid and advice to first year students as they began their journey in university.

During my free time I enjoy styling outfits, having picnics, watching a good series as well as spending time with my loved ones. I would describe myself bubbly, witty and thoughtful. The words that my friends have used to describe me are talkative, sound-minded, and considerate. My faith, family, and friends, in that order, make up an important part of who I am as each have contributed to my character, principles, and personality in some way.
