Hello! My name is Demi.

I graduated in 2020 from the University of Cape Town, South Africa with a BSC in Speech-Language Pathology (Hons). In 2021, I completed my community service year working in the Paediatric Speech Team at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto, Johannesburg. I worked with a wide variety of Paediatric patients with both Dysphagia and Communication difficulties.

I have been working at Words First for over a year and have worked in a variety of settings including mainstream and special needs primary and secondary schools, as well as in complex needs clinics. I have a special interest and passion for working with young children, their families and the teaching staff around them to help them focus on their strengths to reach their full potential. I enjoy working with Words First as they place a huge emphasis on impacting the lives of all the children at the schools they work with, whether classrooms based or individualised.

In my spare time, you will find me spending time with my friends, walking around the park or shopping! If you had to call my best friend and ask her to describe me, I think she’d describe me as caring, calming and fun!
