Opeyemi Temitayo

SALT

Hello, my name is Opeyemi.

I completed my studies at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria where I obtained a degree in Special Education in 2015, and thereafter a Master’s degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology in 2019.

I have worked in various settings as a Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT), including schools, clinical settings, and private practices. I began my Speech Therapy career at the University of Ibadan Audiology and Speech Pathology Clinic and worked as a paediatric SaLT at a mainstream school in Nigeria. I also worked as a private SaLT during my Master’s. In 2020, I started working as a lead SaLT in a centre in Abuja, Nigeria. I worked closely with other professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and schoolteachers. I have a special interest in working with children with speech sound disorders and stuttering. I enjoy working with children and their families to achieve a common goal and to help the children achieve significant improvement in their speech. I am always eager to improve my professional skills, leave my comfort zone, and work in a new environment where I can learn and maximize my potential.

I love to play sport. If you don’t find me doing Speech Therapy, then you’ll find me at the badminton court. A book that has had a great impact on me is “purpose driven life ” by Rick Warren. If you had to call a friend and ask her to describe me, she would describe me as caring, calm, and passionate.Â
