Hi, my name is Ashley but you can call me Ash!
I graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. After graduating, I completed my community service year at Standerton Provincial Hospital in Mpumalanga. During this year, I was head of the Speech and Language department and gained experience in both the paediatric and geriatric populations, managing caseloads including that of dysphagia, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder and cerebral vascular accidents.
As a Speech and Language Therapist, I am a helper at heart and passionate about not only assisting the children in need but also the families and loved ones themselves therefore, reducing caregiver burden and ensuring effective carryover to enable the best therapeutic outcomes. I am excited to be part of the Words First team, to learn and grow as a therapist and to find my special niche in the field.
After work and on the weekends, you will find me in the gym, spending time with loved ones, exploring the outdoors or shopping. If you had to call my best friend and ask her to describe me, she would say I am compassionate, determined and reliable.
