Hello, my name is Emily.
I qualified as a Speech & Language Therapist in 2015 in South Africa and I have been part of Words First since 2019. It has been an incredibly rewarding adventure and I continue to grow and learn with each new season in the Words First team.
I’m currently a L5 Supervisor to a wonderful group of therapists and I am developing a special interest in Speech Sound disorders and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. My additional responsibility includes delivering Words First Approach training to our SaLTs and support staff within Words First schools. I am passionate about forming positive and trusted relationships with students, school staff and Words First colleagues. I endeavour to reach out to parents and carers to include everybody in the therapy process as much as possible and find great reward in seeing a student as thrilled to work with me as I am to work with them!
In my free time you can find me working on my very amateur water colour paintings, baking ‘rusks’ (South African dunking biscuits), sipping something chilled, reading a book, riding my bicycle or dreaming up an overly ambitious travel adventure!
