SALT

Hello, my name is Husnaa.

I graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa in 2022.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work in different areas of speech and language, and within different settings throughout my academic career, which includes exposure to acute settings, rehabilitation centres and schools. I completed my community service in South Africa at a regional hospital where I worked with adults and children with speech and language impairments, neurological fallouts and swallowing difficulties. I have worked with diverse communities and have provided both assessments, and intervention within a multidisciplinary team.

My experience in South Africa has shaped me as a Speech and Language Therapist and sparked my interest in wanting to share and expand my knowledge, therefore prompting my solo move to the UK. I have completed the introduction to DIRFloortime® and I plan to continue my studies in the future.

My interests are in developing language and communication among children as I believe that all children have a voice and deserve to be heard. I have chosen to work in a school setting because I’m passionate about empowering teachers and parents as they are the facilitators to therapy.

In my free time I enjoy reading books, horse riding, hiking, enjoying nature and travelling. Spending time with family and friends is also really important to me and I try to do it as often as possible. My family would describe me as compassionate, caring, curious and funny.

I look forward to contributing and expanding my skills and knowledge within Words First.
