SaLT

Hello, my name is Hannah.

I graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist from Queen Margaret University in 2017, having previously completed a MA in Linguistics and Hispanic Studies at the University of Aberdeen in 2015. I have worked across a range of settings, including mainstream primary and secondary, specialist provisions, and a special school for complex needs and autism. I am particularly interested in working with children with complex needs and have a special interest in Autism and Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC).

At the school I work in now, I work closely with parents and teachers to ensure each student receives the best support to communicate their wants and needs and interact with peers and adults. Within the Words First team, I am a clinical specialist and support other therapists to develop their clinical practise skills. I am also part of the Social Communication Outreach Team who provide specialist assessments for students with social communication differences.

I am trained in the SCERTS® Model, a research-based educational approach and multidisciplinary framework that directly addresses the core challenges faced by autistic individuals. I am also trained in the Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme, Makaton and PECS®.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends, exploring the world (near and far) and planting veg at my allotment.
