Katie Smith

Pre-Reg SALT

Hi my name is Katie,

I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University in 2013, and my master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Saint Xavier University in 2016.Ā  I received my Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2017 following completion of my Clinical Fellowship year in Illinois.

I have spent my career working primarily as a travel speech therapist in a variety of mainstream and specialist school settings.Ā  I have been fortunate to work with students from ages 2-21 with a range of speech and language needs.Ā  Through my work as a travel therapist, I developed a passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds across Illinois, Hawaii, Texas, California, and most recently, Japan.Ā  My special areas of interest include assisting students who present with articulation and language disorders in primary school environments.Ā  My goal is to make therapy not only beneficial for the child to improve their speech and language skills, but to find different ways of making it enjoyable to engage in, and conducive to their individualized needs.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with friends.Ā  If I had to call my best friend and ask her to describe me, I think she would describe me as adventurous, loyal, and determined.Ā
