Hi, my name is Alyssa.
I am from Ireland and I graduated from Ulster University with a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy. I am a newly qualified Speech and Language therapist, and I am very excited to take up my first post with Words First!
I completed several clinical placements during university, where I gained experience in both schools and community clinics. I have worked with primary school-aged children who presented with a range of different needs and abilities.
Through my placements, I learnt that I have a special interest in working with children who have complex needs, dysfluent speech and speech sound delays and disorders. I am really keen to learn more about eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
I love being a Speech and Language therapist as I am passionate about empowering children, improving their quality of life, helping them acquire new skills and guiding them to achieve their goals!
In my spare time, I am an avid reader and artist. I love experimenting with gouache paint and Posca paint pens. If you had to call my best friend and ask her to describe me, I think she would say I was resilient, patient and creative.
