Ricki Khumalo

SALT

Hello, my name is Ricki.

I graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2021 with a Bachelor in Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy (Hons). In 2022, I did my community service year at Bethal Hospital in Mpumalanga, South Africa. I ran the Speech Therapy department of the hospital and my caseload ranged from premature infants to geriatrics. I would also do weekly community outreach, which included developmental screenings at two local clinics, providing speech therapy to elderly patients at one local old age home and speech-language screenings at a local special school.

My community service year allowed me to further explore my love for children and early communication intervention. I enjoy this area of speech and language therapy as I have seen the positive impact it has on a child’s development. I have a passion for playing a positive role in a child’s speech and language development. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, baking, and creating content. If I had to call my friends/family and ask them to describe me, I am sure they will describe me as bubbly, creative, outgoing and a lover of baking.
