Hello, my name is Ros! I began my studies at Kings College University of London in 2006 where I studied BA Hons. English Language and Communication. I then furthered my studies at City University of London in 2009 where I obtained a PGDip in Speech and Language Therapy which qualified me to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist. I then obtained my MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at City University of London in 2015.
I have worked in a variety of settings as a Speech and Language Therapist which has made me an āall roundā therapist in the NHS and within the private sector. For example, I have experience of working with children and young people aged 2- 18 years of age within mainstream primary and secondary schools including SEMH and other specialist school settings. I also have experience of working independently with private clients too. Prior to qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist, I worked as a Support Worker for children with learning disabilities during the Easter and Summer holidays and at after-school clubs. I also worked as a Learning Support Assistant supporting students with a diagnosis of Autism in a mainstream primary school and ASD Resource Base.
My special areas of interest are: Developmental Language Disorder, Autism, SEMH and Selective Mutism.
I am passionate about helping school staff, other professionals and families to implement effective strategies and interventions that will support and increase the independence and confidence of the students that I work with.
I also created engaging and informative content for the company’s social media platforms as the former Social Media Manager. In my new role as a Clinical Supervisor, I will be supervising three other SALT’s within the team.
I absolutely love being part of the Words First Team due to the amount of diversity it has to offer and the opportunity to develop within my current role!
In my spare time, I love watching interior design programmes, creating art, shopping, visiting the theatre and cinema and travelling abroad when I can!
My friends would describe me as: warm-hearted, resourceful, helpful and enthusiastic!
